The big TV licence con

Most of us pay it, probably slightly less than those of us who actually watch TV, but I suspect the majority do. And in my mind it’s the biggest modern day con. A licence to watch TV? What next, a permit to take a dump or a breathing pass? As you can probably tell so soon, I am really not a fan of the TV licence.

When first announced as a killer in Mexico Swine Flu hit the headlines big time and I don’t think there were many who weren’t paying attention and feeling a little concerned. Then it started to spread worldwide and we saw the WHO upgrade the status to Pandemic, with daily and sometimes hourly, updates on the national and regional news.

Manchester city centre has a rather wonderful way of dealing with idiots who try to cheat their way through roads where they shouldn’t be. Anyone who’s arrogant enough to assume they can simply ignore the signs and drive where shouldn’t, while others behave, are quickly shown why it wasn’t a good idea and dealt with swiftly. I’m talking of course about Manchester’s famous bollards!
